1. Agreement to Terms
Welcome to Life in Text. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, applications, and services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using Life in Text, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use our Service. We may modify these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any changes.
2. Description of Service
Life in Text is a digital journaling platform that allows users to:
- Create, edit, and store personal journal entries
- Upload images and media to accompany entries
- Organize entries with tags and categories
- Choose privacy settings for each entry
- Share public entries with the community
- Explore and read public journals from other users
3. Account Registration
3.1 Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Life in Text. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.
3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to:
- Create a strong, unique password
- Not share your account credentials with others
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
3.3 One Account Per Person
Each person may only maintain one account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or for deceptive purposes is prohibited.
4. User Content

You retain ownership of all content you create and upload to Life in Text, including journal entries, images, and other materials ("User Content"). By posting User Content, you grant us a limited license to store, display, and transmit your content as necessary to provide the Service.
4.2 Public Content License
When you make content public, you grant other users a non-exclusive license to view and read your content through our platform. You can change the privacy setting of your content at any time.
4.3 Content Responsibility
You are solely responsible for your User Content. You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have the necessary rights to your content
- Your content does not infringe on any third party's rights
- Your content complies with these Terms and applicable laws
5. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Post content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or obscene
- Share content depicting or promoting violence, self-harm, or illegal activities
- Post sexually explicit content involving minors
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Spam, phish, or engage in fraudulent activities
- Upload viruses, malware, or malicious code
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Scrape, crawl, or collect data without permission
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Encourage or enable others to violate these Terms
6. Content Moderation
We reserve the right, but have no obligation, to:
- Monitor public content on the Service
- Remove or disable access to content that violates these Terms

We do not monitor or access private journal entries except when required by law or to investigate reported violations.

The Service, including its design, features, code, and branding, is owned by Life in Text and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of our Service without permission.
7.2 Feedback
If you provide feedback or suggestions about our Service, we may use this information without any obligation to compensate you.

Our Service may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third parties. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:
- The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
- Defects will be corrected
- The Service is free of viruses or harmful components
- The results of using the Service will meet your expectations
We are not a mental health service. While journaling can be therapeutic, our Service is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health advice.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LIFE IN TEXT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Loss of data or content
- Loss of profits or revenue
- Personal injury or emotional distress
- Unauthorized access to your account
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Life in Text, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.
12. Termination
12.1 By You
You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon deletion, your User Content will be removed within 30 days.
12.2 By Us
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in illegal activity, or for any other reason at our discretion. We will attempt to notify you before termination when possible.
12.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections of these Terms that should survive termination will remain in effect.
13. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except where prohibited by law. You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive any right to participate in class actions.
14. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Life in Text operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
15. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by posting the updated Terms on our website and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
16. General Provisions
- Entire Agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Life in Text.
- Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
- Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right does not waive future enforcement.
- Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent.
